“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” – Proverbs 23:7
There is a great and enormous power in our hearts waiting to be harnessed wisely and it will only be unleashed when we are conscious of the fact that the thoughts that we allow to run through our minds or what we feed our hearts with does a lot to shape, or mould our destinies directly or indirectly. The above verse of the Bible explains in depth what it means to think rightly. It speaks of our perception to different life situations that we face and how we react to it. The more we feed our hearts with the right things, the more we are able to use the power in it to shape our world positively.
If we ponder on the words of the above phrase, few questions can quickly come to mind; they are: -
- How can what I think define me?
- What is so fantastic about what I think about?
- What is the correlation between what I think and what I am?
- How can I be what I think about?
- Can this be true?
Lets take a careful study of the above phrase to understand the gravity of this important fact of life that has helped many to unleash the potentials in them and achieve great things in life. If you don’t have something in reserve, it is definitely impossible to give out such. The heart is like a workshop where a lot of things get done – it could be positive as well as been negative. Which one is yours? What do you spend you time to think about? You will agree with me that 90% of our actions are premeditated – this implies that we have invested some time in our hearts to think about it before acting it out. If an action was an impromptu, you would have quickly processed the action you will take within some micro-seconds before actually doing it thus, it means you are the chief architect of your actions.
Why don’t we then utilise the great power in our hearts to build an enviable profile for ourselves? Why don’t we feed our hearts with knowledge and words of wisdom that will help us to think wisely and take the best of decisions that can change our world, our life, impact positively on people around us and mould us to be better beings? We have a great responsibility to consciously invest wisely in our hearts. You may wonder – how can this be done? You don’t have to search for to long!
“Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” – Proverbs 4: 23
Information gets to the heart through one sense organ of human beings and this is the eye. What we feed our eyes with determines the pictures and information that will be contained in our hearts and it in effect shapes us to be who we are. What do you watch and what do you read? Do you read junk news feeds or do you invest time in reading and studying books, journals, articles or press that will impact you positively. It’s been said that readers are leaders and when you read, you exercise your heart, your wisdom increases and you are able to prepare yourself for great challenges of life. There is no victory without preparation and there is no success without great deposits of wisdom. It takes discipline and continous dedication to develop your heart to think rightly. We can be who we choose or we aspire to be, it is all a function of our preparedness to pay the price.
Have a rewarding day.

Interesting post. I have the eBook by James Allen- As a Man Thinketh on my blog under the downloads section. One of my favorite books.
You’ve said it all. This is one of the natural laws that has often been overlooked. Our mind is the greatest asset that God has given to us. Unfortunately, many of us grow up having been fed with wrong ideas and imaginations that tends to limit or prevent us from exhibiting our God given potential. I read a book sometime ago, the author recommend that an adult christian need to re-program his or her mind with the Word of God so that he or she can start thinking the way God designed us to think.
Nice post, beautiful blog. Cheers
